A Response to Love

In contemplating the the guiding principles of Advent Venture Studio, we looked at the First Angel and Second Angel Messages… and now we arrive at the Third Angel. Strangely, this is the message most often misunderstood in Adventist circles.

I believe this confusion exists because the Third Angel is often studied in isolation, disconnected from the flow of the first two... but this is now how we are instructed to learn or share. Jesus showed us that His way is simple. He taught in pictures simple enough for a child to grasp. So when I was praying for a clearer way to explain the Three Angels' Messages, the Lord gave me a simple metaphor... a ladder.

Not a towering staircase. Not an ornate structure. Just a small folding ladder. Two steps and a top platform.

This simple image captures the entire journey through the Three Angels' Messages (and the final call of Revelation 18) in a way almost anyone can visualize at a glance.

So... how do we approach this ladder? Well, we walk with two legs, so what is the significance:

• Right leg: Love
• Left leg: Faith expressed in action

And unless those legs move in order, we cannot climb. This is the gospel in motion… the logic of Revelation 14.

The First Step (Love Awakens Us)

Revelation 14:6–7

The first movement is always love. The love leg steps onto the ladder when we accept the everlasting gospel.

With one foot on the ladder and one foot still in the world, most of our weight still leans on earthly systems, but the direction of our focus has shifted.

We are turning UP toward Him.

The Second Step (Faith Takes Action)

Revelation 14:8

The left foot on the Action leg lifts and steps onto the second rung. Suddenly both feet are on the ladder. We are no longer divided between two systems. Babylon's influence begins to lose its grip as lifestyle, habits, relationships, and priorities shift toward heaven's values. It becomes practical now… not just theoretical.

This is an INWARD focus on character development.

The Third Step (Love Returned)

Revelation 14:9–12

We start this phase with both feet now on the ladder… love on the first step, faith on the second. This time it is again the turn for the Love leg's movement. The right foot, previously on the first step of God's love for us. Accepting the free gift of salvation offered through Christ's sacrifice. The foot now comes higher to the Third step. This is not an action of our own righteousness, but simply an act of love.

"If ye love Me, keep My commandments" John 14:15

If we understand it not as an act of our own then it is easy, because our action is a response to His action. Our love cannot come from within us, it is a response to His love for us.

"We love because he first loved us" 1 John 4:19

Now, our right foot is now on the top rung and our left is firmly planted in taking action through faith… founded in love (Galatians 5:6)

"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus." Revelation 14:12

This is where we begin to understand that our lives testify to God's character before the universe. The left foot still rests on earlier reforms, but the weight of our trust is higher than before.

This provides an OUTward demonstration of the transformative power of God's love.

The Shift From 'Ah-ha' to Action

At this point of clarity, a new question surfaces:

How do we build the structures that allow God's people not only to believe this message… but to live it?

Because the final warning is not delivered as a lecture. It is not a debate. It is not a diagram on a chart.

It is a life revealed.

So what must be built to support this demonstration of God's ways?

This is the purpose of Advent Venture Studio.

To take what the Three Angels shape in the soul and build the outward systems that make that inner life sustainable. To design the scaffolding beneath a people who will reveal God's government through their habits, relationships, communities… in their work and in their rest.

In other words:

Advent Venture Studio builds the practical framework for a people whose lives become the demonstration of a superior way… God's way.
